In a political development that is eerily similar to a Monty Python skit, Transit City remains the plan that will not die. The light rail plan that Rob Ford unilaterally declared “dead” on his first day in office is set to return in a special council session called by the TTC Chair. Karen Stintz has been trying to get some kind of momentum going on a plan to either get the money to meet the Mayor’s desire for subways or some compromise on extending the crosstown lines that won’t bankrupt the city. As the funding promises to dry up next month Stintz has been forced to get council to either endorse the 2009 Transit City Plan as is or kill it.

Both the Globe and the Star are carrying this as cover stories. This plan has been stuck in Ford’s craw now for a while. Let’s see what happens.
