There are clearly gaps in the study – as noted by the article author. What remains, however, is a general view of the energy inefficiencies of the suburban dream. The number that really rankled was the estimated 25% increase in household energy consumption in American suburbs over city centres. I would imagine the numbers are similar for Canada and elswhere, but a global study might be interesting for comparison purposes.
